The State Work Study program helps students from low- and middle-income families earn money for college while gaining experience whenever possible in jobs related to their career goals.
State Work Study opportunities are available to students at public two- and four-year colleges and universities and many accredited private or independent four-year colleges and universities in Washington. See list: Participating colleges and universities.
To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:
Awards are based on the availability of funds and your determined financial need. While awards vary, students generally earn between $2,000 and $5,000 per year. Students may not work more than an average of 19 hours per week while enrolled, or more than 40 hours per week during breaks - depending on their award.
You will automatically be considered for State Work Study when you file the FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
Contact the Student Employment or Financial Aid office at your college for more information.
