Council submits executive director candidate names to Governor

The Washington Student Achievement Council has approved the following three names for submission to Governor Inslee for consideration to appoint as executive director:

Jana Carlisle, Executive Director, Partnership for Learning

Gene Sharratt, Director, Washington State University Superintendent Certification Program

Chris Thompson, Director of Government and Public Relations, Independent Colleges of Washington

Appointment of the executive director is a shared duty under RCW 28B.77.040, which states, in part:  “The executive director shall be appointed by the Governor from a list of three names submitted by the Council.”

A search committee of Council members has been working with an executive recruiter since November to develop the candidate pool and narrow the field to decide on these three finalists to submit to the Governor. The Council held a special meeting by telephone conference call on March 19, and voted unanimously to submit the finalists’ names to the Governor.
